5 Tips to Fall Asleep Fast

What can we do to fall asleep more quickly?

Is there anything more annoying than hoping to get a good night of sleep and instead, toss and turn all night long?

An effective (but oftentimes hard to sustain) way to sleep quickly is to have a consistent bedtime routine. Just like in other aspects of our lives, routines make us more responsible and productive.

Apart from your basic pre-bedtime ritual which we’ve gathered 5 easy and effective tips to help you sleep better and faster!

 

1. Take a warm bath or shower

Doing this naturally lowers your body’s temperature, which greatly contributes to your body’s process of falling into deep sleep.

 

2. Meditate

Meditation can significantly enhance relaxation, which you need to achieve deep sleep. Meditating for at least 5-10 minutes before sleeping can lessen sleep disruptions.

 

3. Stay away from your gadgets 1 hour before bed

Using the tv, tablets, mobile phones, and other devices before bed delays the body's circadian rhythm (a.k.a., your body’s internal clock) and suppresses the production of melatonin (a sleep-inducing hormone), therefore making it more difficult for you to fall asleep.

 

4. Journaling

Throughout the day, a myriad of thoughts run through your head. Writing on paper actually offload things a little bit. More often than not, you limit your writing to what transpired throughout the day, but what you plan on doing the next day. So in some way, apart from journaling being therapeutic, it also helps you become more productive for the next day and fall asleep feeling accomplished.
